Doreen is the Administrator at the Johnson Institute for Responsible Leadership and the Frances Hesselbein Leadership Forum at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA), University of Pittsburgh. Doreen is responsible for Johnson Institute daily operations, communications, and programming, including matters of student engagement, community outreach, and mentorship.

Prior to joining GSPIA, she worked at the Graduate School of Public Health where she coordinated alumni relations, communications, and outreach. She was previously Operations Manager in the David Berg Center for Ethics and Leadership in the Katz Graduate School of Business. At Katz, Doreen also served as the Coordinator of Operations for the International Business Center, where she coordinated international student and faculty immersion programs abroad.

Doreen also has extensive international experience, both professionally and in her own civic engagements. Born and raised in Guatemala, Doreen is very proud of her heritage. Her passion and enthusiasm motivated her to coordinate efforts to create the Hispanic Latino Professional Association (HLPA), an organization that she proudly co-chairs alongside an amazing group of super talented colleagues. In conjunction with this work, she is also a member of the Pitt Latinx Hispanic Heritage Month Planning Committee and serves in Pitt’s Latinx cluster-hiring initiative created to increase the number of faculty focused on Latinx issues throughout the various departments and schools of the University. Committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, Doreen also serves on GSPIA’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

Doreen is a Pitt alumna, having graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications and a certificate in Latin American Studies.  In her spare time, Doreen enjoys spending time with her husband, her ten-year-old son Cameron, going on long walks with their dog Arya, watching movies, reading, eating interesting food, and traveling!
